This June “Little House on the Prairie” fans from all over the world gathered in Columbia, California, for the Little House Gold Country Event. Alongside cast members, fans had the rare chance to take a step back in time and walk the very streets where beloved episodes of the series were filmed.
Set in the heart of Columbia State Historic Park—a preserved 1850s Gold Rush town—this immersive weekend offered something truly special: the opportunity to relive the magic of the show alongside some of the people who once brought it to life.
An Unforgettable Cast Reunion
The event brought together a remarkable lineup of original Little House cast members, including Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson), Rachel Greenbush (Carrie Ingalls), Wendi Lou Lee (Grace Ingalls), Dean Butler (Almanzo Wilder), Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle), Patrick Labyorteaux (Andy Garvey), Ketty Lester (Hester-Sue Terhune), Pamela Roylance (Sarah Carter), David Friedman (Jason Carter), Jennifer Donati (Baby Rose Wilder) and Michelle and Jennifer Steffin (Toddler Rose Wilder).
Their presence created emotional moments for fans, many of whom traveled long distances to meet them.

A Parade Through Time
The festivities kicked off Friday morning, June 6th, with a parade down Columbia’s historic Main Street. Cast members rode through town in vintage motorcars, smiling and waving as fans cheered, snapped photos, and lined the wooden sidewalks. It was a joyful and nostalgic way to open the weekend, one that set the tone for everything to follow.

Meeting the Stars, Making Memories
After the parade, meet-and-greets officially began. Fans had the chance to talk with the actors, collect autographs, and take personal photos, creating moments many will treasure forever.
Throughout the weekend, the cast mingled with guests not just during autograph sessions, but at dinners, games, and even during casual chats in town.

Costume Contests and Prairie Spirit
Each day at 1:00 PM fans donned their best prairie attire for the popular costume contests. From calico dresses to straw hats and suspenders, attendees of all ages participated. Winners received Little House-themed prizes, while everyone celebrated the creativity and shared nostalgia on display.

A Taste of the Past at the Bella Union
Guests who purchased VIP dining experiences enjoyed breakfast and dinner with the cast at the Bella Union Restaurant, famously used in the filming of Season 7, Episode 9, “The In-Laws.” Dining in the same room where scenes were shot—with the actors who performed in them—added an unforgettable layer of intimacy and warmth.
The meals weren’t just a novelty—they were a time of storytelling, laughter, and connection between fans and cast members alike.

Children’s Prairie Games & Hands-On Fun
Each afternoon, families gathered for children’s prairie games in the center of town. Sack races, hoop rolling, and stick pony rides brought old-fashioned fun to life and added another layer of authenticity and charm to the weekend.
The Wine & Cheese Train: A Once-in-a-Lifetime Ride
The highlight of the weekend was Saturday evening’s Wine & Cheese Train Ride aboard the Sierra No. 3, the actual train used in many episodes of ”Little House on the Prairie.”
Departing from Railtown 1897, the historic steam engine rolled through the beautiful California countryside. Fans and cast members shared wine, laughter, and stories—and even sang the show’s iconic theme song by David Rose together as the sun set. It was an emotional, joyful, and unforgettable experience.
The evening included live music from the Black Irish Band, local cheese selections, and photo ops with the train and cast in front of the historic roundhouse.
A New Legacy Begins
The event also marked the formal debut of Prairie Legacy Productions LLC (PLP), the new, officially licensed event company for “Little House on the Prairie.” PLP was co-founded by Dean Butler, Alison Arngrim, Mike Davidson, and Jennifer Brallier, with the mission of creating authentic, immersive, and family-focused fan experiences.
To bring the dream to life, PLP partnered with the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, led by Michael and Rosanna Sharps, who worked tirelessly alongside the PLP team to craft a meaningful and smooth-running weekend.
