The highly anticipated Little House on the Prairie Netflix series is set to premiere on July 9, 2026!

Part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, this fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic Little House books offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier. Along with the premiere date, Netflix also revealed a first-look photo from Season One, and confirmed that the series has already been renewed for a second season!

Showrunner and Executive Producer, Rebecca Sonnenshine, shared “I’m incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive. We can’t wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and we’re thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.”

The beloved Ingalls family will be portrayed by Luke Bracey (Charles Ingalls), Crosby Fitzgerald (Caroline Ingalls), Alice Halsey (Laura Ingalls), and Skywalker Hughes (Mary Ingalls) in what promises to be a stunning adaptation of Wilder’s classic frontier tale.

Since their original publication in the 1930s, these novels—and the brand they inspired—have remained fixtures of American culture. Now, more than 50 years after the original NBC television series debuted, the story and characters will find renewed resonance for today’s audiences.

Other executive producers include Joy Gorman Wettels of Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly of Friendly Family Productions, and Dana Fox. Friendly said, “Our talented cast and crew have brought Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved novels to the screen with care and authenticity, honoring their themes of family, community, and resilience for longtime fans and a new generation.”

  2. As a fan of the real Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family I‘ll be interested in seeing how accurate they get to what really happened and how it happened.

Although it may be an insult to fans of the NBC Little House show, I have to say that they took way too many liberties creating new characters storylines nothing true to what really happened. Started out well with good intentions in the beginning, but it got way over the top towards the end.

The only time it got it done right and close and accurate to what really happened was Disney’s version

I can only hope that Netflix does the same. We don’t need over the top, fun humor, excessive ridiculous storylines. Make history come alive, but make it accurate and real and show how it really was.

  3. I really hope this series will be like Laura Ingalls’ books and not like the fantastical overdone tv series. I loved Michael Landon but u felt that he just tried too hard to make the series intense and dramatic to his liking not to the way the books were actually written. Please please please honor Laura Ingalls’ books not the tv series plots! Excited to see this new creation!

  5. It’s one of the best series I’ve ever seen. It teaches values, morals, and ethics—things that are rarely taught these days. A lovely family delivering beautiful messages to society. I’m so glad it’s back.
