No one can make it alone out on the prairie, not even the Ingalls family. For them, the town of Independence isn’t just a way of life; it’s a place to come together.
Netflix has shared a new teaser for the highly anticipated adaptation of Little House on the Prairie, giving audiences a first look at the community that will shape the Ingalls family’s life on the frontier.
As Pa, Ma, Laura, and Mary settle into their life on the prairie, the town of Independence, Kansas, becomes the backdrop for new friendships, struggles, and triumphs. The full first season, based on the beloved books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, premieres July 9, 2026 on Netflix.
Along with the new teaser video, Netflix revealed additional first-look photographs from the series.
The Ingalls family will be portrayed by Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls.
Just as in the Little House books, Laura is our window into this community, guiding us through a story of resilience, courage, and optimism.
The family meets and befriends several neighbors, including John Edwards (Warren Christie), a gregarious and mysterious Civil War veteran whom Laura Ingalls Wilder described in her writing as a “wildcat from Tennessee.”
Audiences will also meet Dr. George Tann (Jocko Sims), a generous and kind-hearted pioneer physician based on a real person from Wilder’s life who treated the Ingalls family for malaria. Fans will recognize him from the chapter “Fever ‘n’ Ague” in the Little House on the Prairie book.
