Netflix has announced additional cast members for its fresh adaption of Little House on the Prairie. These additions help round out a cast of characters that will bring Laura Ingalls Wilder’s original books to life.

Jocko Sims (New Amsterdam, Grosse Pointe Garden Society) will play Dr. George Tann, a generous and kind-hearted pioneer physician with a charming bedside manner that makes him a connector within the community. Based on a real person from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s life on the Osage Diminished Reserve, Dr. Tann saved the lives of the Ingalls family when they got malaria.

Warren Christie (The Watchful Eye, Land) will play John Edwards, the gregarious, mysterious Civil War veteran who catches the eye of all the women in the county. Laura Ingalls Wilder described Edwards as a “wildcat from Tennessee” in her writing.

In addition to casting roles from the beloved books, several new characters will be introduced, all members of the same extended Osage family.

Meegwun Fairbrother (Avatar, The Sticky, SkyMed) will play Mitchell, a tender and hardworking Kansas farmer who’s built the most impressive homestead in the county.

Alyssa Wapanatâhk (Peter Pan & Wendy) will play White Sun, Mitchell’s wife, who is beautiful, opinionated, and has a sharp sense of humor. At times, she sees the world through a more cynical lens than her husband.

Wren Zhawenim Gotts (Echo) will play Good Eagle, the daughter of Mitchell and White Sun. She is wildly imaginative and is known as a storyteller in her family.

Xander Cole (People of the West, You Can Take It With You) will play Little Puma, White Sun’s younger brother—a good-hearted, but bull-headed young man who is trying to find his place in the world. Though he loves White Sun, he is prone to getting under her skin.

This talented lineup joins the previously cast Ingalls family: Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracey as Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline and Skywalker Hughes as Mary in what promises to be a stunning adaptation of Wilder’s classic frontier tale.

Filming is slated to begin in June under the leadership of showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine. The series is executive produced by Sonnenshine, alongside Joy Gorman Wettels for Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly for Friendly Family Productions, Dana Fox and Susanna Fogel. CBS Studios is producing in collaboration with Anonymous Content Studio.
