The Ingalls’ journey begins! With the premiere of Netflix’s highly anticipated adaptation of Little House on the Prairie just around the bend, audiences can now get their first glimpse of the life Pa, Ma, Laura, and Mary will build for themselves when they leave the Big Woods of Wisconsin behind and journey west to Independence, Kansas. Through the newly released trailer viewers are invited to step into a story of family, resilience, and the enduring search for a place to call home.
The full first season, based on the beloved books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, premieres July 9, 2026, on Netflix. In addition to the full trailer, the series’ main poster has also been released.
The Ingalls family will be portrayed by Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls.
Netflix has also released new first-look images, inviting audiences deeper into the world, and offering a closer look at the people and everyday moments that define life on the prairie.
Laura Ingalls is our window into this adventure. An American icon in waiting. She is observant, tender, strong-willed, and hot-tempered. She resists the bounds of 19th-century ladylike behavior – she likes to run barefoot and feel the sun on her face. She is curious and optimistic and fearless, like her father; resourceful and hardworking and honest, like her mother.
Mary Ingalls is Laura’s older sister and polar opposite. She’s a rule follower, quiet and studious, loves reading poetry and long afternoons of sewing. In other words, Laura and Mary are oil and water. But in the end, they always have each other’s backs – there is no choice but to protect each other in this wild new landscape.
Charles and Caroline Ingalls (Ma and Pa) fell truly deeply in love. It was a great romance – and it still is. Their marriage is one of equals – something rare in the 19th century. And though Caroline’s trust in her husband is tested, the strength of their love endures.
This fresh adaptation will introduce audiences to a new Osage family: the father, Mitchell (Meegwun Fairbrother); the mother, White Sun (Alyssa Wapanatâhk); and their daughter, Good Eagle (Wren Zhawenim Gotts).
Mitchell is a tender and hardworking Kansas farmer who’s built the most impressive homestead in the county. White Sun is opinionated and has a sharp sense of humor. At times, she sees the world through a more cynical lens than her husband.
Good Eagle is wildly imaginative and is known as a storyteller in her family.
The Ingalls family will also meet and befriend several neighbors, including John Edwards (Warren Christie), Dr. George Tann (Jocko Sims), and Adam Scott (Maclean Fish).
John Edwards is a gregarious and mysterious Civil War veteran whom Laura Ingalls Wilder described in her writing as a “wildcat from Tennessee.”
Dr. Tann is a generous and kind-hearted pioneer physician based on a real person from Wilder’s life who treated the Ingalls family for malaria. Fans will recognize him from the chapter “Fever ‘n’ Ague” in the Little House on the Prairie book.
Rebecca Sonnenshine serves as showrunner and is executive producing alongside Joy Gorman Wettels for Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly for Friendly Family Productions, and Dana Fox. The series is produced by CBS Studios and Anonymous Content.
The first season is directed by Sarah Adina Smith (Episode 1), Julie Anne Robinson (Episodes 2 and 3), Kat Candler (Episodes 4 and 5), Erica Tremblay (Episode 6), and Sydney Freeland (Episodes 7 and 8).
Writers include Rebecca Sonnenshine (Episodes 1 and 2), Francesca Butler (Episode 3), Carter Kristensen (Episode 4), Adam Starks (Episodes 5 and 8), Eleanor Burgess (Episodes 6 and 8), and Tom Hanada (Episode 7).
