Synopsis:
Many girls in elementary and middle school fall in love with the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder – what they don’t always realize is that Wilder’s books are autobiographical. This narrative biography describes more of the details of the young Laura’s real life as a young pioneer homesteading with her family on many adventurous journeys. This biography, complete with charming illustrations, points out the differences between the fictional series as well as the many similarities. It’s a fascinating story of a much-celebrated writer.

About the Author: Yona Zeldis McDonough
Yona Zeldis McDonough is the author of seven novels for adults and also an award-winning children’s book author with 26 children’s books to her credit including Little Author In The Big Woods: A Biography Of Laura Ingalls Wilder. For over a dozen years, Yona has been the Fiction Editor at Lilith Magazine.  She works independently to help aspiring writers polish their manuscripts.  She presently lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, two children and two small, yappy dogs.

About the Illustrator: Jennifer Thermes
Jennifer Thermes is a children’s book author, illustrator, and map illustrator. Her books have received a Kirkus starred review, been included in several Bank Street College lists, and been recognized in 3×3 Magazine’s Children’s Illustration Annual. Jennifer’s next book, Charles Darwin’s Around-The-World Adventure, was published by Abrams Books for Young Readers in October 2016.  When not making art, Jennifer loves to read and work in her garden. She lives with her family and an assortment of cats, dogs, and uninvited mice in an old farmhouse in Connecticut.
